In KS3 students have three Design & Technology lessons per fortnight. Over the year students complete rotations in some of the main D&T specialist areas; Product Design, Textiles and Food, with each rotation lasting the equivalent of one term. During each rotation students will be assessed, so by the end of the academic year students will have an understanding of their attainment in each of the specialist areas (Product Design, Textiles and Food).
In kS4 students have a choice of Product Design, Textiles and Food and Nutrition. Each option looks to build on the knowledge and understanding that has been gained throughout KS3. During Year 10 all pupils will be required to cover various theory topics and develop their confident with various materials/ingredients.
Students will complete controlled assessment work during Year 11 and then sit an exam at the end of Year 11.
